![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Calendar of events 2008(Archive: 2005 2006 2007 2008 2009) 2008 Launch of the expedition during Sailing to Barcelona and the World Congress of the IUCN (Barcelona, October 4th - 14th) To celebrate its 60th anniversary - which coincides with the world congress, whereby over 7,000 personalities from the world of the environment will be present – Sailing to Barcelona is an event which will promote the cause of the worlds Oceans through a 400 strong boat parade. This unprecedented event will see nations, NGOs and private companies make firm commitments to the safeguarding of our Oceans. Representatives for each commitment made will travel onboard the armada of boats before participating in a public ceremony. The Antinea Foundation will officially launch its expedition during this event, thus benefiting from truly international media coverage. The pledges made during the ceremony will be symbolically transferred aboard Fleur de Passion where they will remain for the following 10 years of the voyage.
40th International Festival of exploration films (Toulon, September 26th - October 5th) Antinea will be the guest of honour during this festival, which, since 1954, has been able to put together a rich and diversified collection of audio-visual works on the theme of exploration and adventure. In collaboration with the French Society for Exploration, a forum on the state of world exploration will be held onboard Fleur de Passion.
Heaven on Earth (Geneva, September 13th) Antinea will be in charge of this musical and environmental oriented event. The multi media show will be projected from the Neptune sailing ship, along with Kerr, the band performing the soundtrack live.
Brest 2008 (July 11 through 17) Once every 4 years, the international marine heritage boats and crews gather in Brest. More than 2000 sailing ships and over a million passionate boat lovers come together for this event. Antineas Ocean Village, equipped with the latest technologies will be available to communicate and share the wonders of the underwater world with the general public.
Launch of European Ocean Day (Brussels, may 19th-20th) Following the inauguration of the European Commissions new maritime policy, in which Antinea took part, the European Parliament voted to declare May 20th as European Ocean Day. The Antinea Foundation has been recruited to organise this event.
Celebrating the mounting of the masts (Geneva, 28 February) An event to celebrate the mounting of the masts and rigging was organised at Clos-de-la-Fonderie (graphic design workshop, Pascal Bolle), Carouge. It was the occasion to share this magnificent stage in the renovation of Fleur de Passion. |
