Science Over the course of the expedition, a team of leading international scientists will conduct a research program designed to validate and build upon a global map of cumulative human impact on marine ecosystems (Science 2008). This research will provide invaluable insights for the identification of areas that require urgent protection and protected areas that may benefit from improved management strategies. Best practices in MPA management will also be documented and shared.
Communication and outreach The Changing Oceans Expedition will reach out to the wider public to raise awareness on the oceans critical role and the need for improved protection measures. People from around the globe will be invited to follow the expedition, not only virtually through innovative multimedia communication tools, but also through real-life experiences joining the crew on board.
