alimentary resources

Billions of people rely on the oceans as their primary source food, including many of the worlds poorest populations. Perhaps not surprisingly our oceans are increasingly crowded by coastal developments, industrial pollution, climatic changes and overfishing.

Three quarters of the worlds principal fishing zones are presently affected by overfishing and the acceleration of water acidification, which threatens smaller organisms, like plankton, at the base of the alimentary pyramid.

Antinea will support research to protect and replenish fish stocks while encouraging sustainable fishing practices and the creation of natural marine reserves.
