The scientific research

To further our scientific knowledge of the marine environment, the Foundation serves as a research platform through its flagship Fleur de Passion. The expedition ship makes it possible to carry out projects in remote areas by providing a mobile logistics and research platform. Partner organisations bring their know-how and their own specific projects.

Among the subjects and species under investigation, the Foundation focuses on those that are susceptible to elicit broad public interest.

One-off projects will be carried out onboard, when they concern specific locations around the expedition route, while those that cover a more extensive geographical area or theme can be pursued throughout the entire expedition. Each project will invole partnerships with organisations specialised in that specific theme or area of study.

Antinea’s expedition will include research in all major scientific fields related to the marine environment, including medicine, biodiversity, ecology, climatology and underwater archaeology. Ocean investigators will seek to better understand the marine environment and its ecosystems, as well as the impact of human activity. To achieve this Antinea will provide a logistical structure for its partners in scientific research. Innovative tools and technologies will be made available, allowing work and the collection of invaluable data in places where no one has gone before.
