Marine pollution

The surface of the oceans cover two third of our planet, representing 363'000'000 Km2 of salt water. Despite their immensity marine pollution, whether anthropogenic or natural, has become a worrying issue. Unchecked waste disposal, domestic practices, agricultural, industrial or leisure activities, ship grounding, fishing debris, the proliferation of algae, seismic movements, environmental noise pollution and visual pollution endanger our oceans in a drastic way. A range of studies onboard are intended to examine these effects and propose solutions to overcome them. One of Antinea’s purposes is also to inform and familiarise the public with the dangers of continuing our harmful activities.

Projects to be carried out onboard:

Plastic waste recycling (Granit)
A cartography of underwater noise pollution (Michel André, Laboratory of Applied Bioacoustics, Technical University of Catalonia (UPC))
